Borderlands 3 fans can finally play the game’s Director’s Cut expansion, and while the new questline and Vault Cards are exciting, fans are most hyped for the game’s first raid boss. For owners of the latest Borderlands 3 DLC, Hemovorous The Invincible can now be fought.
A massive Varkid with the ability to spawn larva, attack players from underground, and divide the map with electricity, she will surely be a tough fight for those unprepared. While she is first accessed via a quest like other Borderlands raid bosses, any subsequent fights with Hemovorous will require that players know where to fight her. As such, memorizing her spawn point will be a must for anyone looking to grind out some loot.
Back when Borderlands 3 first launched, fans were stumped by a mystery related to a door on Pandora’s Ascension Bluff. Gamers tried to get behind the door for weeks, only stopping their attempts once Gearbox confirmed that the door had no purpose at the time. It does have a purpose now, though, as an intense boss battle with Hemovorous The Invincible waits behind this previously locked door.
Once players have grabbed the Sanctuary 3 quest “You. Will. Die. (Over and Over),” or after they have finished it, they should head to the planet Pandora and the Ascension Bluff location. At the upper right side of Ascension Bluff (the area where the yellow arrow is seen is in the above image), players will find a circular cave that holds the door. For those that were thorough when they originally explored the area, it will likely be the only grey area on the map.
Upon reaching the cave, players will go into Darkthirst Dominion and see a pink door. They then need to offer 500 Eridium to the door for entry, doing so every time they want to farm Hemovorous. NOTE: Players get 500 Eridium when they take on the quest, ensuring that the raid boss is free to fight the first time.
A fun and tough battle with a neat callback to Borderlands 2’s Vermivorous The Invincible, players will need to be prepared to bring the raid boss down. Once they have defeated Hemovorous The Invincible, they will see plenty of loot dropped on the floor. While there is a large pool of the game’s best items, the exclusive items drop at rates of 25% to 35% and are as follows.
- Ionic Disruptor – Legendary Sniper Rifle
- Atlas Replay – Legendary Pistol
- Ringer – Legendary Grenade Mod
- Company Man – Legendary Artifact
While the guns will surely get plenty of attention, the Company Man artifact is particularly interesting. It comes in several forms, with a different version available for each of the game’s gun manufacturers. As such, players can make and improve builds based on a single gun brand. For example, the Jakobs Company Man improves damage and accuracy stats for all Jakobs guns, with the Dahl Company Man doing the same for all Dahl guns.
With each of the Company Man artifacts offering so much build diversity, players have a reason to keep farming Hemovorous. Thus far, most fans seem to be satisfied with this raid boss fight, and hopefully it is the first of many raid boss additions for Borderlands 3.
Borderlands 3 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
